Not All Sounds Are Important

maxresdefault (1)

The barking dog, cars driving by, the clank of dishes – none of these sounds matter. The ones you really want to listen for are the crunchy footsteps of the animatronics, the pitter-patter of tiny nightmarish feet, and of course the breathing. Everything else is inconsequential.

Check The Bed Regularly

maxresdefault (1)

Things will get hairy if you go for too long without taking a look at the bed. make sure you remember to spin around and shine your light every so often – preferably after each “cycle” of checking the left and right doors.

Don’t Worry About The Closet For The First Couple Of Nights

maxresdefault (1)

Nothing really happens with the closet on the first night but it won’t hurt to run up and check it once or twice. The same goes for the second night. By night three you’ll definitely want to check it regularly.

Never Use Your Flashlight As Soon As You Reach A Door

maxresdefault (1)

It’s tempting, but do not do it. You need to stand at the door to listen for breathing for a few seconds before shining your light, and if you hear any then slam the door shut immediately. Turning on your light when there’s an animatronic at the door is instant death.

Hold The Door Shut

maxresdefault (1)

If you think you hear breathing make sure to close the door, but don’t just close it real quick and then open it again. Instead, hold it shut for a few seconds and listen for the sounds of the animatronic walking away.

Make Sure You Hear The Animatronic Walk Away Before Opening The Door

maxresdefault (1)

It usually will only take a few seconds before they wander off, but make sure you listen for it (the sounds of walking over gravel). If you open the door and they’re still there, it’s all over.

Use night one to familiarize yourself with the game’s layout and mechanics

maxresdefault (1)

Pretty much nothing will hurt you on night one (Springtrap isn’t released until night two), so take the time to comb through the camera feed. Get to know each room’s layout. Once things get underway in earnest, Springtrap becomes very good at hiding himself and your survival depends on how quickly you recognize when he’s occupying a room.

Springtrap is drawn to noise

maxresdefault (1)

If you see Springtrap on one of your cameras, switch to an adjacent room (preferably one furthest away from you) and play the audio of the child laughing. Springtrap will investigate, drawing him that much further away from your office.

If Springtrap is in the vents, seal them!

maxresdefault (1)

Sealing the vents isn’t for keeping bad air out of the room. Rather, it’s to keep Springtrap out of your office (he’s decidedly more deadly than bad air, anyway). If you see him in the vents while flipping around your cameras, seal the vent as quickly as possible.
